A Beginner’s Guide to Six Packs
First and foremost, to be able to see your abs, you need to have a low body fat percentage so that you can see your abs. That’s when nutrition comes into play.
The first piece of advice from Lorenz is drink more waterYou may be getting enough nutrition, but you may be forgetting the extra calories added by drinking soda. One to two liters of regular soda contains as many calories as a pizza.
Juices also contain a lot of calories and lack the fiber found in natural fruits. This is very important to give you a feeling of satiety.
Should You Eat Fruit During Your Workout?
The second tip is build muscle Your basal metabolic rate (BMR) increases, so the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn per day.
So, especially when training as a beginner, focus on larger muscle groups such as the glutes, quads, pectorals and lats rather than triceps or biceps for example. Lorenz says she incorporates strength training into her daily routine rather than just doing cardio.
As nutrition progresses, routines will need to change, not just for weeks, but forever.
Finally, Lorenz talks about how to train for a six pack in his Beginner’s Guide. This isn’t to burn more calories, it’s to increase the size of your abs and make them fuller.
Here are the exercises:
- Plank walk (rectus abdominus)
- Side Plank Raise (Oblique)
- Serrated knee raise (serrated)
Do 3-4 sets of each of these exercises and repeat 6-15 times with a 2-minute rest between each set.
