HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – Joseph Simmons, M.D., was named the January Resident of the Month at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University.
Simmons completed his third and final year of the internal medicine residency program at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, where he earned his M.D. West from Sinston, Virginia, he was named by a member of the Department of Internal Medicine.
“Dr. Simmons embodies an outstanding resident,” said Eva Patton-Tuckett, M.D., associate professor and director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. “Not only is he excellent academically and clinically, but he is an amazing teacher with an incredible work ethic and a strong dedication to patients and the community. It is evidenced by his outstanding performance as a member of the team over his three years.”
“It was a pleasure to read Mr. Simmons’ endorsement. We are always thrilled when our local doctors-in-training perform well,” says Wehner. “He deserves recognition.”
As part of this month’s resident recognition, Simmons received a plaque and designated parking.
After completing their training in June 2023, Simmons and his wife Kelly will move to Morgantown to attend West Virginia University’s Gastroenterology Fellowship Program.
