The startup recently received seed funding to support its mission to expand into local obstetrics and gynecology clinics. Dr. Sipra Laddah and Dr. Shama Rathi founded the company out of experience after having their own children.
According to Rudder, many women face mental health issues but don’t know where to turn. This resource may help detect disorders before birth.
Rati said she was not ready to have children. After she gave birth to two children in quick succession, she had the support of her family. But the hardest part was after having a baby.
“For two weeks, I went through ‘Baby Blues,'” she said.
As a roller coaster, she recalls when she faced sleep deprivation and had to learn to take care of her children and herself.
Her pregnancy has taken a toll on her mental health, but Lati said it’s an experience she knows many women go through.
Rathi said many things can contribute to how hard women face.
“There’s a lot of anxiety going on, especially with what’s going on in the world right now,” she said.
The time she spends with her children shows how far she stays from battling mental health issues.
She remembers that moment and how resources like LunaJoy impacted her.
“When I was pregnant for the second time in a row, I had no idea who took out my insurance or how far I would have to travel,” Rathi said.
LunaJoy can help women receive a diagnosis of the disorder early in pregnancy while offering intervention services and support groups, she said.
With the click of a button, you will be connected to someone who can help you.
The goal is to help women feel less alone during the beautiful times of their lives.
The LunaJoy founders hope to continue expanding the company’s resources into other areas in the future.
