Starting February 2025, the ACSM Certification Board (CCRB) implemented a 3-month testing-window structure as a part of the new ACSM association management system (AMS) and to align with credentialing best practices.
Exam Coupon Expiration Dates and Testing Windows Are Different
1. Coupon Expiration
When an academic program purchases or requests discounted ACSM exam coupons, those coupons carry an expiration date:
- 6-month expiration date coupons are commonly used when the exam is administered as a final course assessment (when the university pays for the exam)
- 12-month coupons are often selected when programs want to provide students with testing flexibility during their final academic semester (e.g., during internships or capstone experiences)(when the university supplies a discounted rate on the exam)
- Coupon expiration dates may be extended upon request.
2. Testing Window
The 3-month testing window starts when a student submits the application for the exam (i.e., completes the ACSM exam application and applies the institution’s voucher code). Once that application is approved, the student has 3 months to schedule and sit for the exam at a Pearson VUE testing center.
