Since 1is July 2026, 3040 is the new unique, free and confidential number which allows students to contact psychologists, specialized educators and lawyers in order to obtain help or information.

The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Space launched, on 1is July 2026, a unique listening number for students: the 3040. Free and confidential, it is aimed at students in difficulty who need to consult a psychologist, an educator or a lawyer.

The 3040 is accessible during the day ; it is managed by the National Student Aid Coordination (Cnaé). In the evening, relay is provided by the Nightline hotline (https://www.nightline.fr/) from 9 p.m. to 2:30 a.m.. It is a nightly, free, anonymous and confidential helpline run by students trained in caring listening practices and peer support.

From fall 2026, the 3040 telephone line will be strengthened by the creation of a national portal entirely dedicated to student mental health. This portal will bring together the various support systems already in existence in order to guide students in distress via a questionnaire. This will guide students towards the resources best suited to their situation.
