The National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee) and the Research Directorate, Evaluation Studies and Statistics (Drees) publish a study on salaries in the hospital public service in 2024.
In 2024, a hospital civil service employee (FPH) will receive an average of 2,896 euros net per month in full-time equivalent ; this average takes into account all agents of FPH hospitals and medico-social establishments, whether they are civil servants, non-civil servants or medical staff. In current euros, this average net salary increases by 2.7%. Adjusted for inflation (+2.0% in 2024 after +4.9% in 2023), it increases by 0.7% in constant euros, after falling by 0.9% in 2023.
The average net salary of civil servants increases by 1.0% in constant euros. This increase is mainly driven by category A agents whose average net salary increases by 1.2%. The average net salary of non-civil servants increases by 0.8% in constant euros, while that of medical personnel decreases by 0.3%.
In 2024, salary disparities between the highest and lowest salaries in the FPH are increasing while those between women and men are reducing. Thus, the average net salary of women is 19.1% lower than that of men, a gap down 0.6 points over one year. However, on a comparable profile, this gap stands at 4.7%, or 0.2 points more than in 2023.
For employees present all year round in 2023 and 2024 with the same employer and with the same amount of work, i.e. seven out of ten FPH agents, the average net salary increases by 1.4% in constant euros
