Deadline Approaching: Applications to serve on an ACSM Pronouncement Writing Group.

The application window to submit for authorship in an update to the previous “Nutrition and Athletic Performanceposition stand is approaching, June 5, 2026 11:59pm PT.

The ACSM Pronouncement Committee is looking for qualified experts including representation from all genders, early to late career stage, American and international, PhD’s, MD’s and specialty certifications (RD, CSSD, DPT, AT, RN) to serve on the development of this pronouncement.

ACSM encourages members with the following to apply:

  • A strong history of published peer-reviewed scientific manuscripts in high impact journals surrounding nutrition and athletic performance, including publications within the last 12 months to ensure current awareness of the literature.
  • Extensive research experience with nutrition and sports performance with practical understanding of the current issues in nutrition and sports/athletics.
  • Experience overseeing large systematic reviews and familiarity with reporting guidelines. 4) Demonstrated passion for advancing the knowledge and education of sports nutrition physiology and performance.
  • Contributions to the field or unique perspectives that would aid in the development of the position stand are also strongly recommended.

This update will be in coordination with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and Dietitians of Canada (DC) as a multiorganization publication. The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and Dietitians of Canada will conduct an internal applicant search within their organizations for clinical or applied expertise such as full-time sports dietitians (RD’s, CSSD).  The position stand will be chaired by one member from each organization (ACSM, DC, and AND) and will include an advisory committee of authors from the 2016 position stand.

The pronouncement will be published in the Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise (MSSE) journal and will be made freely available to the public. The expectation is that the work on the paper will be completed within 24 months, with all work being completed remotely (virtually). ACSM will provide support for the Writing Group to complete their work within a reasonable timeframe. This is a voluntary position, and monetary compensation will not be provided. All applicants must be in good standing as an active ACSM member and are expected to maintain an active membership status until publication.
