3114: a reflex in the face of LGBT+ discrimination

3114, the national suicide prevention number, warns of the impact of discrimination on the mental health of LGBT+ people. Communiqué.

According to the latest report on LGBTIphobia published by SOS Homophobia (1), these realities particularly expose the people concerned to suicidal thoughts and acts of suicide, due to the rejection, violence and isolation they experience on a daily basis. Young people are particularly vulnerable, facing a feeling of exclusion and a lack of recourse.
In this context, 3114 reminds us of the importance of making suicide prevention a public health priority.
This free national number must become a reflex, just like 15.
Accessible to everyone, it is available 24/7, everywhere in France.
We offer the intervention of the Deputy National Coordinator of 3114, Professor Notredame, to decipher these issues, provide expert insight and share feedback from the field.
