Faced with the stress of young people

Adolescent stress is increasingly present in consultations. During the 2026 Brain Congress, three clinicians shed light on this multifactorial phenomenon and proposed avenues for intervention, in particular that of plant-based medications.

Emergence of a new identity linked to puberty, issues of separation, individualization, autonomy… Adolescence corresponds to a period of profound physiological and psychological upheavals, destabilizing for young people and their families, recalled the psychiatrist and session chairman, David Cohen during a symposium devoted to stress in young people, a physiological phenomenon which remains primarily “a regulatory system extremely useful for survival”. However, high levels of stress can lead to disabling anxiety disorders.
