As part of the 2023-2027 national strategy, the interministerial delegation for neurodevelopmental disorders is today putting online a booklet dedicated to “National benchmarks for training in the field of neurodevelopmental disorders”. Developed in interministerial collaboration, these benchmarks constitute a reference tool intended to sustainably structure the training offer in the field of TND.
The National Benchmarks define common expectations applicable to training relating to neurodevelopmental disorders (NDD). They aim to guarantee the quality, consistency and scientific compliance of training with regard to the Recommendations for good professional practices (RBPP) published by the High Authority for Health (HAS) as well as the guidelines provided by the national strategy for TND. They constitute neither a training program nor a certification framework. They set demanding principles, verifiable educational criteria and quality expectations allowing:
– to harmonize training practices across the entire territory;
– to strengthen the transparency and readability of training offers;
– to guarantee learners and those supported with training based on evidence.
A tool at the service of all stakeholders
These benchmarks are aimed at all stakeholders concerned:
– to people wishing to train: professionals, students, families, people concerned and caregivers;
– training organizations engaged in a process of continuous improvement;
– to health, medico-social and educational establishments and services wishing to select service providers meeting national requirements;
– higher education establishments wishing to take part in this approach for the design of their academic training in the field of TND;
– to trainers and speakers;
– to public structures responsible for financing, monitoring or evaluating training actions.
A unique approach based on collective expertise
The National Benchmarks are the result of a consultation bringing together representatives of the people concerned and their families, scientific experts, training organizations, professionals in the field, TND resource centers and centers of excellence as well as the administrations concerned. They were reread by the High Health Authority. This collaborative approach resulted in a document reconciling scientific rigor, accessibility and operationality. The benchmarks are supplemented by a common glossary aimed at promoting the use of a shared language between all stakeholders.
A new logic for referencing training
The publication of these benchmarks is accompanied by a major change in the referencing of the training courses offered on the future national portal dedicated to TND, which will be put online at the start of the school year. The system is evolving from a simple census logic towards a voluntary deposit approach by training organizations. Organizations wishing to reference their training courses will undertake to respect the requirements defined in the National Benchmarks, to keep the information up to date and to guarantee simplified access to the content offered. The training courses submitted will be subject to examination by a national commission based on a human evaluation based on a grid constructed from the National Benchmarks. This new organization aims to improve the quality of the information made available to users, to reduce the number of intermediaries between the user and the training sought and to strengthen trust.
in the proposed offer. More than twenty training courses, having already undergone a test and evaluation phase, will be available as soon as the new portal opens.
Practical tools to support stakeholders
The National Benchmarks will be made available with free access on the main institutional sites. They will be
regularly updated to take into account scientific and regulatory developments and professional recommendations. By structuring the training offer around common requirements based on evidence, the National Benchmarks contribute to strengthening the skills of professionals, improving the quality of support and promoting the full participation, rights and self-determination of people affected by one or more neurodevelopmental disorders.
