FormaSantéSexuelle.fr: a platform for training caregivers

Doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists and prevention players are called upon to develop their skills to better support the general public on subjects related to sexual health thanks to a free online training platform: FormaSantéSexuelle.fr which provides up-to-date educational resources adapted to the needs in the field. Communiqué.

How to approach sexual health, intimate subjects, with kindness, inclusiveness and scientific rigor, when you are a doctor, pharmacist, midwife or nurse? What screening methods are currently used for STIs? What are the different drug treatments, prophylaxis or emergency treatment associated with HIV? What initial advice should be given and rapid and appropriate guidance regarding abortion? All these questions are detailed in practice within the FormaSantéSexuelle.fr platform

Free and accessible training for healthcare professionals

Created by the French Society for the Fight against AIDS (SFLS), the College of General Medicine (CMG) and the French-speaking Infectious Pathology Society (SPILF), with the support of the General Directorate of Health (DGS), this platform provides up-to-date educational resources adapted to the needs of the field.

Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the FormaSantéSexuelle.fr platform is aimed at all those involved in sexual health and allows everyone to train at their own pace by offering:

  • Pathways adapted to different professions (doctor, nurse, midwife, pharmacist);
  • Training modules accessible on demand;
  • Regularly updated content;
  • An approach based on the most recent scientific data.

Concrete tools for daily practice

To promote the acquisition of skills that can be directly used in consultation, FormaSantéSexuelle.fr training relies on educational tools: consultation simulations, practical resources and support tools, self-assessment quizzes based on an approach integrating the scientific, relational and psychosocial dimensions of sexual health.

A major public health issue, sexual health relies in particular on the ability of professionals to inform, prevent and guide patients throughout their life course.

By facilitating access to quality training based on recent knowledge and adapted to realities on the ground, the FormaSantéSexuelle.fr platform contributes to strengthening skills and improving care. An approach that fully contributes to the objectives of the National Sexual Health Strategy 2017-2030.

Strengthen practices regarding contraception and abortion

FormaSantéSexuelle.fr notably offers content dedicated to reproductive health with a focus on contraception and abortion. These modules offer the key elements to inform, welcome, advise, initiate, renew or monitor contraception by primary care caregivers or even identify violence.

The practical advice provided communicates key information on contraceptives, the basics of abortion and their preconceived ideas.

A simulated consultation around contraception and three specific situations around abortion courses are also on the program.

The objective is to learn to support individual choices while respecting autonomy and to improve the orientation and coordination of care pathways.
