Patient Challenge 2026: “And at home, how does the patient participate in the safety of THEIR care?”

How to make the patient an actor in the safety of their care? The organization of this 3rd edition of the challenge is ensured by the General Directorate of Care Offering in partnership with the French Institute of Patient Experience, HAS, France-Assos-Santé and the AvecSanté* association. This national challenge invites professionals from the health, medico-social and urban sectors to present concrete initiatives placing the patient at the heart of the safety of their care. Press release.

Included in the national roadmap “Improve patient and resident safety”the Patient Challenge aims to promote projects that make the user fully involved in their care.

Whether it involves participating in transmissions, contributing to planning their journey or analyzing an adverse event with the healthcare team, patient involvement is a major lever for quality and safety.

Who can participate?

The challenge is open to a wide diversity of structures, thus promoting the sharing of good practices throughout the territory:

  • – The health sector (all services combined).
  • – The medical-social sector (whatever the activity).
  • – The city sectorincluding primary care.
  • – Multi-sector projects are also encouraged.

Selection criteria and awards

The files will be evaluated according to four main axes: relevance, mobilization of stakeholders, transposable nature and sustainability of the project.

Calendar for the 2026 edition

  • – 2 avril 2026 : Opening of applications.
  • – June 5, 2026: Deadline for submitting applications.
  • – July 2026: Selection of winners by the jury.
  • – September 17, 2026: Award ceremony at the Ministry of Health.

The costs

The challenge will reward one winner in each of the following three sectors:

  • – Sanitary
  • – The medical-social
  • – The city

The winning teams will benefit from a half-day participatory training workshop, organized

at their place of practice. This workshop aims to promote collective intelligence, strengthen

interprofessional exchanges and support the implementation of concrete practices linked to their

project.

The winning projects will be promoted. The results will be published on the website of the

ministry as well as those of its partners, and can also be relayed on their media

communication, particularly social networks.

*AVECsanté, a player in primary care in France, is a national associative movement present throughout the territory thanks to its regional federations which respond, in an agile manner, to the growing health needs of the population and those of health professionals.
