“Preventing suicide”, the May 2026 issue of Rhizome magazine

Talking about suicide helps prevent it. How to identify and understand suicidal behavior? How to approach them? This May 2026 issue of Rhizome seeks to understand the way in which these experiences, crossed by suffering, ruptures and trauma, call for adjusted political and clinical responses. It shows how relational resources prevent and support the passage of the suicidal crisis, but also how precariousness and isolation increase vulnerabilities in the face of suicide.

“On the verge of suicide, what binds us”, “Suicide attempts and scarification”, « psychotraumas et suicide » or even “remove suicide from the taboo” : here are some of the angles covered in this issue n°97-98 of May 2026 entitled: “Prevent suicide”. Through 22 expert contributions, this 40-page bulletin explores the clinic of connection, the impact of digital technology, as well as specific vulnerabilities linked to precariousness, migratory pathways, LGBT+ youth, the agricultural environment or detention. Enriched by the poetic illustrations of the artist Meimei, through illustrations inspired by nature, botany and prints, this issue combines medical, sociological and associative perspectives to think about prevention beyond care and restoring the links that hold people together. A complete and free file, available now for free download.

Rhizome, a national mental health and precariousness bulletin, is published by the National Observatory for mental health, vulnerabilities and societies, Orspere-Samdarra.
