Professor Olivier Bonnot elected president of the Union of Psychiatry Academics

Professor Olivier Bonnot elected president of the Union of Psychiatry Academics

The psychiatrist specializing in neurodevelopmental disorders and child and adolescent psychiatry succeeds Professor Bernard Granger at the head of the Union of University Psychiatry. He teaches at Paris-Saclay University and works at EPS Barthélemy-Durand, in Essonne.

The Union of Psychiatry Academics (SUP) announces the appointment of its new office, chaired by Professor Olivier Bonnot. “This transition follows the departure of its historic president, Professor Bernard Granger, who has led the SUP with passion and unfailing involvement since 2012”can we read in the press release released this 1is april. The new president assures that the union “will continue to work actively to defend the interests of academic psychiatrists and provide essential support to colleagues in difficulty, particularly in conflicts with administrative authorities and situations of suffering at work”. It will also work to promote the attractiveness of the discipline and the valorization of positions, as well as to “strengthen alliances” with other university and union bodies, to “a synergistic action and an autonomous voice”. Finally, it counts “address current challenges such as the place of academics in the necessary adaptations of the organization of psychiatric care, the reception of doctors with foreign qualifications in faculties and the fight against sexual and gender-based violence”.

His journey et ses engagements

Professor of child and adolescent psychiatry at Paris-Saclay University, Olivier Bonnot is also a hospital practitioner at the Barthélémy-Durand public health establishment in Étampes (Essonne). Since January 2024, he has chaired the National College of University Psychiatry, after having been its general secretary. He notably worked, with the French Federative Association of Psychiatry Students and the National Association of Medical Students of France, to launch in early 2024 the major attractiveness campaign entitled “Choose psychiatry” among interns, to the organization of Psychiatry Nights, the second edition of which was held at the end of January in 25 universities in France.

• secrétaire : Pr Isabelle Jalenques (université Clermont-d’Auvergne) ;
• secrétaire adjoint : Pr Nicolas Ballon (université de Tours) ;
• trésorière : Pr Anne Sauvaget (Nantes Université) ;
• trésorier adjoint : Dr Théo Korchia (Aix-Marseille Université).
