The Cadillac Hospital deploys a cooperation protocol for the monitoring of CMP patients

The Cadillac Hospital Center is undertaking a major evolution of its outpatient psychiatric practices with the implementation of the cooperation protocol “Monitoring nursing consultation in CMP of long-term and stabilized patients”. This innovative system aims to improve access to psychiatric care while strengthening coordination between health professionals.

Deployed within Medical-Psychological Centers (CMP), this protocol allows specifically trained nurses to monitor stabilized patients, in a secure medical setting and in conjunction with the referring psychiatrists. The professionals involved can in particular carry out prescription renewals, prescribe additional examinations and home nursing care as well as verify biological assessments according to a defined protocol.

Led by Dr Aurélie Rust, head of the Rives de Garonne cluster, and Séverine Rocher, senior health executive from the same cluster, the project is part of the national dynamic of interprofessional cooperation driven by the COPSY network and legislative developments resulting from the HPST and RIST laws (see our article).

This project benefited from strong institutional support, with strong support from the Establishment Medical Commission (CME) and the Management of the Cadillac Hospital Center. This institutional support constituted a decisive lever in its implementation, making it possible to structure and secure the deployment of the protocol at the scale of the establishment.

In order to support this organizational transformation, fourteen motivated nurses eager to develop their expertise were trained in these new skills alongside nine delegating psychiatrists. This reinforced cooperation between caregivers responds to three major challenges: reducing delays in accessing care, promoting nursing skills and optimizing medical time for the most complex clinical situations.

The system also promotes better organization of active CMP lines thanks to reinforced complementarity between psychiatrists, Advanced Practice Nurses (IPA) and Cooperation Protocol Nurses (IDEp). This reorganization makes it possible to concentrate medical expertise on patients requiring in-depth evaluation while ensuring regular monitoring of stabilized patients.

With the first consultations initiated since on June 15, 2026, the Cadillac Hospital Center joins establishments which are experimenting with new organizational methods in order to adapt public psychiatry to the growing needs of the territory. The deployment of IDEp is now effective across the entire territory of the adult centers of the Cadillac Hospital, demonstrating a strong institutional desire to harmonize and consolidate this new organization of care. Through this initiative, the establishment affirms its commitment to a more accessible, coordinated and efficient psychiatry serving patients.
