University experiments in nursing sciences: an essential system!

The results of the survey conducted by the National Federation of Nursing Students (FNESI) on university experiments in nursing, set up by certain universities to integrate nursing training into their structures, are clear: these systems constitute an essential lever for strengthening the quality, attractiveness and recognition of nursing training. Press release.

Since 2021, several universities have implemented experiments aimed at strengthening the university integration of nursing training. These measures aimed to develop double degrees, facilitate bridges between health training and strengthen teaching through research and research.

As these experiments come to an end in 2026 and the reform of nursing training gradually comes into application, the FNESI conducted a survey among the students concerned.

The results show that these experiments constitute an important lever for the universityization of training. Thus, 78.3% of the students questioned had a positive assessment of the place given to research within these systems. The universities involved in the experiments also appear better prepared for the implementation of the reform.

However, the survey highlights several major limitations which risk compromising the success of this transformation.

50.8% of students say they encounter difficulties communicating with university teachers. This observation demonstrates a lack of coordination between universities and IFSIs and underlines the urgency of deploying university departments in nursing sciences throughout the country.

Moreover, 61.1% of respondents consider that the human resources allocated to experiments are insufficient. Without dedicated administrative staff, without teacher-researchers in nursing sciences and without university structuring by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Space, the experiments and the management of the reform cannot be carried out under satisfactory conditions.

These findings therefore point to the obvious: university experiments do not have the means to match the ambitions displayed..
To effectively support the reform of nursing training, it is essential to:
✔️ Generalize the experiments across the entire territory;
✔️ Clarify the governance of training establishments;
✔️ Fund teaching-researcher positions in nursing sciences in each university concerned.

Face à ces constats, la FNESI demande :
• La publication d'un arrêté généralisant les expérimentations ;
• La publication d'un arrêté relatif à la gouvernance des établissements de formation ;
• Le financement de postes d'enseignants-chercheurs en sciences infirmières dans chaque université qui met en oeuvre la formation infirmière
