Now is the time for undergraduate, graduate, and medical students enrolled in full-time programs to apply for the 2026 Science Integration & Leadership Committee (SILC) Basic Science Award. The SILC Basic Science Award recognizes excellence in student research in basic science and assists with travel expenses to present scholarly work during the ACSM Annual Meeting.

This one time award provides $500 to help defray the costs of traveling to the ACSM Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City.

Applicant Eligibility includes:

  • ACSM national membership in good standing before applying. ACSM chapter membership alone does not fulfill this requirement.
  • Undergraduate, graduate, and medical student status enrolled in full-time programs. Applicants with a terminal degree of any type (PhD, EdD, MD, DPH, etc.) at the time of application are not eligible
  • First author and presenter of an abstract accepted in the basic science category at the ACSM Annual Meeting.
  • Previous Basic Science Award winners are not eligible

The award will be determined by the overall impact and quality of the research presented.  Winners are required to attend the Basic Science Reception at the ACSM Annual Meeting to be recognized for receiving the award.  Winners are encouraged to attend the ACSM Honors reception at the ACSM Annual Meeting.

The submission deadline is March 13, 2026, 11:59 p.m. ET. Please contact the ACSM Foundation with questions regarding this award.  Apply HERE today!
