Science Spotlight | March 2026 Highlights
ACSM From Around the Field Science Webinar Series Open to Students

ACSM’s From Around the Field Science webinar series is designed to provide ACSM students and members with an opportunity to learn about the diverse science our members conduct. Join us for informal discussions with our ACSM members to hear more about what they study, the general research methodology they use, and some of the interesting results their research is generating. In March Dr. David Bishop, Research Director at the Institute of Health and Sport at Victoria University, Australia will present “Physical Activity and Exercise Intensity Terminology.” Dr. Bishop will discuss the recent joint ACSM and Exercise and Sport Science Australia statement on recommended physical activity and exercise intensity terminology. This statement proposes a standard terminology for physical activity, exercise, and sport and human performance comprising five exercise intensities and five different descriptors for the perception of effort that align with the five suggested intensities. Join us on February 19th from 4 – 5 p.m. E.T. for this interesting discussion. This event is FREE for ACSM members. Register at: Physical Activity and Exercise Intensity Terminology | American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)

ACSM supports the March 2026 MOVE STRONG for PD challenge

A free and virtual exercise event is underway designed to unite a community of people with Parkinson Disease (PD) through movement, education, and social engagement. The goal of this 12 week program is to empower individuals with PD with the tools, confidence, and support needed to move more and live stronger. Participants continue doing activities they already perform and earn points by tracking their activity using available devices such as Fitbit, Apple Watch, Garmin, or smartphones to a centralized platform creating a global experience. All activity is rewarded creating an inclusive environment for all those with PD to participate regardless of ability level. Learn more about the challenge and get moving for PD here.
